Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority Welcomes Back WestJet Airlines with it’s Toronto Route and New Route to Calgary

The Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority is pleased to announce the return of WestJet Airlines’ non-stop service to Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and the introduction of its new, non-stop route to Calgary International (YYC).

“We are delighted WestJet has returned to YDF, enhancing travel options for the people in our region. Our vision is to be “a leading regional airport in Canada, maximizing connections, opportunities and travel journeys for people, businesses and the communities we serve” said CEO Tammy Priddle. “We are committed to maximizing business development and air service development is a key objective. The welcome return of WestJet and their additional new route is evidence of our effort to achieve our goals.”

“Today we are not only celebrating the takeoff of our inaugural service between Deer Lake and Calgary, but we are commemorating WestJet’s highly anticipated return to the community,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Group, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer. “We know how essential air connectivity is to Newfoundland and Labrador, and we are proud to unlock access to Toronto, Canada’s largest city, and to Calgary, WestJet’s home and global hub, for Deer Lake residents and visitors alike”. WestJet Airlines will be providing service to Toronto, Ontario and Calgary, Alberta.

“In 2023, we served just under 300,000 passengers at 92% of our pre-pandemic level of traffic. The return of WestJet Airlines providing non-stop service to Toronto Pearson along with this new service to Calgary will provide the community with more connections to Ontario and Alberta as well as international connections beyond will support our recovery with capacity at a level this summer 20% higher than 2019” said Tammy Priddle, President and CEO.

“We are really looking forward to re-establishing our partnership with WestJet Airlines and to many more opportunities this will create. The success of our regional airport is truly the result of the support of our employees, tenants, the travelling public and our great partners.
