October 26th, 2022 – Emergency Response Exercise Planned October 26th, 2022

Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority in conjunction with local emergency response agencies and organizations will be completing a planned Emergency Exercise on October 26th, 2022 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm to test the Airport’s Emergency Response Plan.

The purpose of a live emergency exercise is to test the coordinated response of all facets of the emergency response system in the event of a major incident. Therefore, the public may see smoke, emergency vehicles and personnel including our partners-RCMP, Deer Lake Fire Department, Western Health, and Deer Lake Ambulance Services Emergency on site on October 26th, 2022 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm however please do not be alarmed. The exercise is planned and controlled and will not interfere with our typical operations. Regularly scheduled flights will not be affected by the exercise.

We ask for the media’s assistance in remind the public that this is a planned and controlled exercise, and there is no cause for alarm.

Safety is a priority for Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority and we are pleased to have the opportunity to test our plan and learn from this exercise with our partner organizations.
