Deer Lake Regional Airport has been accredited by the Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Health Accreditation programme. Our airport has shown that it is providing a safe airport experience for all travellers, in line with the recommended health measures established in the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines and ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Task Force Recommendations, along with industry best practices. This programme is designed to help reassure the travelling public that airport facilities remain safe and that precautions are being taken to reduce any risk to their health. Precautions include continued mask wearing, hand wash stations, increased cleaning procedures, encouraging when possible physical distancing, increased ventilation and plexiglass dividers. Please help us keep you, our employees and tenants safe by following our safety procedures.

The Aeronautics Act stipulates that security measures must be undertaken in Canadian Airports to ensure the safety of the traveling public. These safety measures include the screening of passengers and their carry-on luggage. Currently, CATSA, Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, is responsible for passenger pre-board screening at the Deer Lake Regional Airport and airports across Canada. Deer Lake Regional Airport offers long-term parking and metered parking at competitive rates. All parking lots are open-air surface lots and security patrolled 24-hours a day by Spectrum Investigation and Security Ltd. Reservations are not required for parking.

Ground transportation services are available curb side in the domestic and international arrivals area, including car rentals and taxi/shuttle service to Corner Brook and beyond.

Yes. There is one DirectCash ATM located next to the Security Office.

Only Service Dogs are permitted inside the Airport Terminal if they are accompanying travellers. All other pets are permitted if accompanying travellers and are kept in an approved travel kennel or pet carrier. The Airport Terminal is open 24 hours a day, however, the gift shop and restaurant both close at night. There are no overnight accommodations available in the Airport itself however, there are two hotels in the immediate vicinity of the Airport, and other accommodations are available in the Deer Lake and Corner Brook areas. The Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation operates a Visitor Information Centre, located at Domestic Arrivals at the Airport Terminal. The IATA (International Air Transportation Association) 3-letter code for Deer Lake Regional Airport is YDF. YDF is Deer Lake Regional Airport’s designator or code. The world’s airports have three-letter designators, as established by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). These codes are used by airlines and pilots to identify airports. No. Deer Lake Regional Airport does not offer any baggage storage services. However, if you require storage of an item for a short period, depending on its contents and size, contact the Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority and we may be able to assist you.

Airport Security is available 24 hours at (709) 635-5543 to assist with paging requests and general information inquiries.

We recommend that passengers arrive at the airport at least two (2) hours before a domestic flight and three (3) hours before an international flight. This will give you enough time to check-in and to go through pre-boarding security screening. Times vary depending on your destination and what airline you are travelling with. Please contact your airline directly for check-in time allowances and procedures.

Yes. For items left on board an aircraft or for lost luggage, please contact your airline directly. Items found inside or outside the Airport Terminal are turned into the Lost and Found with Airport Security at (709) 635-5543. If you believe you have lost an item in the airport or you have found an item that you believe someone has lost, please contact Airport Security.

If you’re travelling within Canada, each passenger appearing to be 18 years of age or older must have at least one government issued photo ID, such as a valid driver’s license. The name on the piece of identification must match the name on the ticket. If you’re travelling outside of Canada, each passenger is required to have a valid passport.

The normal hours of operation for Deer Lake Regional Airport are 5:00am – 1:00am (local time) daily. Services are also available for non-scheduled aircraft with 2 hours prior notice. A winter maintenance program is in effect from 5:00am – 1:00am (local time), commencing November 15 and ending March 31 each year. Nav Canada operates a Flight Service Station (MF122.2) 24 hours per day throughout the year. This Flight Service Station is considered an Airport Advisory site. Aviation weather briefings and flight planning are available from Halifax Flight Information Centre (FIC), enroute frequency 126.7.
